Calls are being made this week for action to be taken against the sudden surge of graffiti which is spreading across Rodbourne and other parts of the town centre.
Residents have been outraged by the vandalism which appears to be increasing daily.

A Swindon Borough Council spokesman said: “We would like to take this opportunity to remind people that it is illegal to graffiti public property.
“We haven’t received any direct reports of graffiti in this particular area but we will liaise with the parish council and investigate.

Just this week, a short walk around Rodbourne we have identified a number of walls that had recently been ‘tagged’ with spray paint by a number of individuals.
The vandals appear to be spraying anywhere including walls, road signs, garages and even rubbish bins.

One wall close to the Outlet Village had been sprayed on at least ten separate occasions with pointless text that means nothing to anyone, except the mindless vandals themselves.
One resident, who contacted The Swindonian suggested that there were a ‘number of issues of graffiti in and around Rodbourne the town centre which should be looked into.’

“I would appeal to the vandals to stop with the pointless graffiti immediately. It would be far better if they worked together to provide a piece of art similar to Cambria Bridge that represents the area and its history rather than committing acts of vandalism.”
Swindon Borough Council are urging residents to report any issues: “We would encourage people to report any graffiti they see via the Council’s website.”

To report graffiti to the council and request its removal you an fill in the form online.
Anyone who has any further information on any act of vandalism being undertaken should call the Police 101.
