A man has appeared before magistrates charged with assisting an offender following last month’s shooting in Gorse Hill, as the police investigation into the incident continues.
The shooting took place on 19 June, when a man sustained life-changing injuries after being shot in the Gorse Hill area of Swindon.
In the aftermath of the incident, Wiltshire Police arrested eight people as officers carried out enquiries across the town.
Among those arrested was Peter Bullock, 51, of Queens Drive, Swindon, who was initially detained on suspicion of attempted murder. He has now been charged with the lesser offence of assisting an offender.
Bullock appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 21 July, where he was granted bail. He is due to appear before Swindon Crown Court today (23 July).
Also appearing before the Crown Court today are Dylan Anthony, 19, and Kyron Anthony, 20, both of Milton Road, Swindon, who have been charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting.
Police enquiries remain ongoing and several other people arrested during the investigation remain on bail pending further enquiries.
They include a 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and being concerned in the supply of Class C drugs, a 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, and a 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
A 16-year-old boy and a 33-year-old man, who were arrested shortly after the incident on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation, have since been released with no further action.
Wiltshire Police have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting while the investigation and court proceedings continue.
As criminal proceedings are active, reporting restrictions apply and the case remains before the courts.
