Man Charged Over Fatal Swindon Collision That Claimed Life of Pedestrian

A Swindon man has been charged in connection with a fatal road traffic collision which claimed the life of a pedestrian last year.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that 37-year-old Nuno Spinola, of Upham Road, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

The charge relates to a collision on Upham Road on 17 June 2024 involving a Volkswagen Golf and 59-year-old pedestrian Jonathan Neilan.

Mr Neilan suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Spinola was due to appear before Swindon Magistrates’ Court today (2 July).

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said its thoughts remain with Mr Neilan’s family and friends as court proceedings begin.

No further details have been released while the case is before the courts.

As criminal proceedings are now active, reporting of the case is subject to the strict provisions of the Contempt of Court Act 1981.
