Rodbourne residents will be keeping their fingers crossed Swindon Borough Council’s latest actions to alleviate traffic woes in the local area work with news that Kemble Drive will be closed this week overnight to allow a new lane to be installed.
After months of complaints that the area is at a complete standstill when the Designer Outlet Village is busy the shopping centre and the council are attempting to ease the issues by creating an extra lane from Bruce Street Bridges towards the North Car Park.
Cllr Jim Robbins has taken to Facebook to confirm the works ‘The outside lane will be dedicated for traffic going to the Outlet car park, and the inside lane will be for through traffic.’
‘The idea is that if through traffic can use Kemble Drive and not get caught in the traffic, it will keep traffic away from Rodbourne Road.’
Kemble Drive will be closed tonight 26th March, tomorrow and Wednesday evening between the hours of 9pm and 6am. Traffic will be diverted along Rodbourne Road whilst the works take place.
