Huge queues as Chopstix opens its doors at Swindon Designer Outlet

There was a distinctly noodle-shaped rush at Swindon Designer Outlet this week as Chopstix opened its newest restaurant – with hungry customers queuing from 10am to get their hands on the opening day offers.

The popular UK noodle bar officially opened on Thursday 27 August, bringing the chain’s growing collection of more than 140 restaurants to Swindon.

The launch saw the first 100 customers receive a free medium box, while 1,000 portions of spring rolls were also handed out during the day. There were prizes, merchandise and discount vouchers up for grabs too, helping to create sizeable queues before the doors even opened.

The new restaurant is at Unit 80 within Swindon Designer Outlet and has created more than 20 new jobs locally. It has seating for around 20 diners.

Chopstix serves a range of Asian-inspired dishes designed to be quick and affordable, including familiar favourites such as Sweet & Sour Chicken and Salt ‘N’ Pepper Chicken, alongside Chicken Katsu Curry and its signature Caramel Drizzle Chicken.

Customers can eat in, collect takeaway orders or have their food delivered.

The new restaurant is open from 10.30am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 6pm on Sundays.

Gareth Brannigan, Head of New Store Openings for Chopstix, said the reaction to new openings had been particularly encouraging.

He said: “In each new location we open, we have been blown away by the response from customers; so many people are looking for a quick, tasty and affordable option for lunch, and Chopstix is the ideal option for fresh flavours on-the-go.

“It’s a really exciting time for our business as a whole, and we’re excited to welcome our local fans to the store when we open our doors.”

Charlotte King, Marketing Manager at Frasers Plus Designer Outlet Swindon, said the restaurant was a welcome addition to the outlet.

She said: “We’re delighted to welcome Chopstix to Frasers Plus Designer Outlet Swindon.

“The new opening is another exciting addition for our visitors and reflects our commitment to continually enhancing the experience at the outlet. Whether guests are taking a break between shopping or making a day of their visit, Chopstix will be a great new option for families, friends and food lovers alike.”

The Swindon opening comes during a period of expansion for Chopstix, following 17 new store openings and refurbishments across the UK during 2025.

The chain has also continued to develop its restaurant format, with its Chopstix 3.0 concept launched in Bridgend last year.

For those who missed the opening day freebies, the restaurant’s regular menu is available to order for takeaway and delivery through the Chopstix website and app, as well as Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat.

With the opening queues stretching out across the Designer Outlet, it appears Swindon has already developed a taste for its newest noodle bar.
