The heat warning issued by Public Health England has now been extended as experts warn of some ‘exceptionally hot weather’ over the next few days.
Experts say temperatures will hit 37C in parts of the country by Friday and possibly higher – the highest ever recorded at this time of year.

The all-time UK high of 38.5C set back in August 2003 looks like it could be under threat, while the highest recorded temperature for July is 36.7 C at Heathrow in 2015 which is likely to be beaten this week.
Dr Thomas Waite, Consultant in Health Protection at Public Health England, said: “Temperatures are likely to be high in parts of England this week, which may leave older people, young children and those with long-term conditions, including heart and lung diseases, struggling to adapt to the heat.”
