Scam text messages which have cloned the government’s official sender ID, ‘UK_Gov’, have begun appearing in inboxes across the UK.
The text message falsely accuses you of leaving “home more than once today” or that you were at a location which was not for “work, shopping, medical assistance”.
The government have taken to social media to confirm that only one official text message has been sent regarding the newly enforced lockdown, and that any others received are in fact, fake.
One of the text messages we have seen states: “You have left your home more than once today and was at a considerable distance from your home. As this isn’t a location such as work, shopping, medical assistance, this is your final warning to comply with government guidance. Failure to do so may result in fines.”
