In the early hours of this morning, Friday 12 July 2019,  officers proactively targeted four properties in Swindon in relation to drugs offences.

£4000 in cash seized along with weapons  including three large machete style knives, a zombie knife, a baseball bat, a large hammer and a samurai sword.

Two young men, aged 16 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.  Both were taken into custody at Gablecross Police Station. The 16 year old has now been released under investigation.

Officers also issued two Community Protection Warnings which prohibit the young people concerned from attending specific areas within Eldene. If breached it is then escalated to a Community Protection Notice before becoming a criminal offence.

Sgt David Tippetts said: “This is part of our ongoing work to disrupt an exploitative drug network that has been established in the Eldene area.

“The seizures made today are significant and will disrupt criminal activity. The overarching aims of this operation are to protect children and vulnerable people and pursue those who commit criminal offences through the criminal justice system.

“We also intend to fully utilise Anti social behaviour powers and work with partner agencies to bring about a long term resolution to this community issue.”
