Disorder in Penhill – witness appeal

Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses to a number of incidents of disorder in the Penhill area of Swindon involving local groups of youths.

On Friday 19 October at approximately 4pm, two groups of youths were involved in an altercation.  Three local males aged 16, 17 and 20 were arrested on suspicion of affray and have been released under investigation.

On Saturday 20 October at approx 3pm two groups of youths were seen in the Penhill area but then dispersed.

On Sunday 21 October at approx 4pm two groups of youths were involved in a disorder in the same area.  Again this dispersed quite quickly.

Sergeant Richard Tottle, from Swindon North Community Policing Team, said: “We want to reassure people living in this area that in each incident the groups of youths were known to each other.

“In each case we responded quickly and as a result of these three linked incidents we have been putting on and continue to put on extra patrols in the area.

“Please do not be alarmed. These officers will mainly be there to provide reassurance to you and your community.

“We are working hard to get to the bottom of these incidents and are interested in hearing from anyone in this area who may have seen or heard anything suspicious over last weekend.
