Youth sentenced following burglary at West Swindon home

A 14-year-old boy has been given a Youth Rehabilitation Order for 18-months after a burglary at a house in West Swindon.

Unknown offender(s) broke in to the property on Whittingdon Road, Westlea on Monday 27 March 2017 and stole a black Specialized mountain bike.

The bicycle was then found at the Swindon home address of the teenager the following day after his mother called police.

The teenager was sentenced at Swindon Youth Court on Tuesday 25 April 2017 after pleading guilty to handling stolen goods.

He will be required to carry out reparation activity for 14 hours over 14 days as well as being under curfew for 3 months – to remain at an address directed by the court between the hours of 7pm and 7am – this will be monitored by electronic tag.

The bike has now been reunited with its owner.
