Thames Water, has announced that County Road may remain closed for another two weeks as repair efforts continue following a burst water main.
The water company plans to complete the necessary repairs by the end of next week before focusing on restoring the road itself.
A section of approximately 120 meters of County Road will undergo repair and resurfacing, including damaged kerbs and pavements. The expenses incurred for this restoration will be covered by Thames Water.
While they anticipate completing the work and reopening the road by Monday, July 10th, efforts will be made to expedite the process if possible.

To minimise overall disruption caused by the closure, Swindon Borough Council will capitalise on the opportunity to bring forward patching work originally scheduled for later this summer.
This decision will help repair deteriorating sections of County Road simultaneously, avoiding the need for an additional road closure and reducing inconvenience for local residents and motorists.
Furthermore, the Council plans to take advantage of the ongoing repairs by conducting gully clearing and refreshing road markings next week.
Councillor Chris Watts, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for the Environment and Transport, said: “The burst water main last weekend caused huge disruption to residents and businesses, but I must thank Thames Water for stemming the leak and restoring water to the local community so quickly.
“We all want County Road reopened as quickly as possible, but Thames Water has had to repair an extremely old pipe three metres underground, while also making sure it is not failing in other places, as the last thing we want is for this to happen again.
“In the meantime, we will use the current closure period to carry out planned repair and maintenance work so we do not have to come back again in a couple of months’ time, further disrupting those that live and work in the area and those that use the road.”
