County Road to be closed for at least a week whilst repairs carried out

After the flooding of County Road at the weekend Thames Water will be continuing its repairs today to the burst pipe.

The water company was able to shut down the mains and divert the water supply onto another mains pipe in the area, ensuring local residents and businesses continued to receive water.

To enable the burst main to be fixed, the entire length of County Road from Transfer Bridges to the Magic Roundabout is currently closed with a signed diversion route in place and motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

With the damaged pipe being located three metres below the road surface, extensive excavations are required to enable the water company to locate and fix the issue.

The road is expected to be closed for at least a week as Thames Water carries out repairs to the pipe, concrete road base, tarmac, and kerbs.
