Computer coding competition launched for students

Wiltshire Police Digital Investigations & Intelligence Unit (DIIU) has launched a computer game coding competition to help promote cyber awareness and how cyber crime is investigated.

The theme is ‘Staying Safe Online’ and entrants must design and write their own game, using any computer language.  Applicants will come up with their own team name and logo, and will present their game to the Wiltshire Police judges via a 2 minutes video.

Aimed at those who go to school in Wiltshire or Swindon, there are two categories for entry: students in school year 6 or below and those in school years 7 to 13, aged under 18. Entries are welcomed from individuals or groups of up to four people.

The winning individual or group in each category will win a Raspberry Pi computer, a behind the scenes tour of Police Headquarters in Devizes, including a visit to the Digital Investigations & Intelligence Unit, tea with one of the Chief Officers plus the chance to sit in a road traffic car and meet a police dog and handler.

The deadline for competition entries is 4pm Friday 26 July 2019.
