Officers in Swindon South Community Policing Team have successfully sought a closure order for a house in Faringdon Road.
The order was sought by officers due to ongoing concerns that the resident was being cuckooed by a county line drugs gang.
The order, which was granted by magistrates at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning, has been put in place to safeguard the resident and prevent any associated anti-social behaviour issues for residents living nearby.
It means that anyone other than the resident named on the order, is prevented from entering the property. By doing so, they could be committing an offence and may be arrested.
Sgt Dave Tippetts said: “This is the twelfth order of this kind to be obtained by Swindon South Community Policing Team this year.
“Closure orders are a fantastic way to both protect the resident at the property concerned, and disrupt the criminal activity of the drug network. The order will be in place for three months, which allows us time to work with local partner agencies to put in place a more long term solution to prevent the address being used in a similar way in the future.”
Cuckooing involves drug dealers taking over the home of a vulnerable person in order to use it as a base for drug dealing.
