Buckley Gardens in Melksham has reached a major sales milestone, with 85 per cent of homes now sold as the development enters its final phase.
The David Wilson Redrow South West development is expected to welcome its final buyers over the coming months, having proved popular with both first-time buyers and families looking to move up the property ladder.
Figures released by the developer show that more than 44 per cent of homes have been purchased by first-time buyers, while almost a third of purchasers have used the Part Exchange scheme to make moving into a larger property easier.
The development has also proved particularly popular with local residents keen to remain close to family and established communities. Nearly half of buyers have come from Melksham itself, with many others moving from nearby towns including Calne and Trowbridge.
New photographs released by the developer highlight the completed streets, landscaped open spaces and layout that have helped shape the development as it nears completion.
Louise Ware, Sales Director for David Wilson Redrow South West, said: “Having only 15 per cent of homes now available at Buckley Gardens is a significant milestone which reflects the strong demand we’ve seen from buyers looking to find their next home in this area.
“It’s particularly pleasing to see so many local people choosing to stay within the communities they know, alongside first-time buyers taking their first step onto the property ladder.”
The developer says energy efficiency has also been a key attraction for buyers, with modern construction methods and technology helping to reduce household running costs.
Features included in the homes range from solar panels and electric vehicle charging points to advanced insulation, high-performance double glazing and systems designed to recover heat from bath and shower water. Energy-efficient boilers and ventilation systems have also been installed to improve efficiency and indoor air quality.
According to government-linked figures cited by the developer, the majority of new-build homes achieve EPC ratings of A or B, with average annual energy bills typically lower than those of older properties.
Among the remaining homes is the five-bedroom detached Henley at Plot 138, which is available with £20,000 worth of upgrades already included.
Situated between the A350 and Semington Road, close to the Hampton Park commercial area, Buckley Gardens is being built alongside seven acres of open space, with ponds, a children’s play area and more than 100 newly planted trees. The development also offers easy access to Melksham town centre, the Kennet & Avon Canal and the M4, providing convenient links to Bath, Bristol and Swindon.
