Bake Off Star to Serve Up Treats at Wichelstowe Open Day

House hunters visiting Wichelstowe this weekend may find there is more than just property inspiration on offer, as a familiar face from The Great British Bake Off prepares to welcome visitors with homemade treats.

Former contestant Louise Williams will be joining David Wilson Redrow South West at Orchards Rise on Saturday 9 May, where potential buyers will have the chance to explore new show homes while sampling freshly baked goods.

The event will showcase two properties at the development—a three-bedroom Willesley and a four-bedroom Wichelstray—with doors open from 11am until 5.30pm.

Alongside the cakes and coffee, prospective buyers are also being tempted with a range of incentives, including a £22,500 deposit contribution and upgraded kitchen and bathroom packages.

Louise Ware, Sales Director at David Wilson Redrow South West, said the event was designed to help people picture life at the growing development.

“Visiting the show homes allows buyers to really experience the layout, finishes and feel of the properties,” she said. “With homes available to move into this summer, it’s an ideal opportunity for people considering their next step.”

Construction at Orchards Rise is being overseen by site manager Clyde Cocking, a two-time winner of the NHBC Pride in the Job Award, which recognises excellence in housebuilding standards.

Visitors can also view a flythrough presentation showing how the wider development will look once complete.

Wichelstowe itself remains one of Swindon’s largest long-term housing projects, being delivered through a partnership involving Barratt Homes Bristol, David Wilson Redrow South West and Swindon Borough Council.

Over the next two decades, the development is expected to provide around 3,000 homes, alongside schools, green spaces and community facilities on the southern edge of the town.

Plans for the site include extensive walking and cycling routes, open spaces, allotments and access to the Wilts and Berks Canal, with developers continuing to emphasise outdoor living and connectivity as key selling points.

Its location, close to Junction 16 of the M4 and within easy reach of Swindon railway station, has also made the area increasingly attractive to commuters seeking access to Bristol and London without leaving Wiltshire behind.

For many visitors this weekend, though, it may well be the combination of property browsing and Bake Off-inspired hospitality that proves hardest to resist.
