Amazing support as funeral fundraiser launched for ‘Swindon Harmonica Man’

Locals have come together and shown amazing support for Swindon’s Harmonica Man as the GoFundMe set up to help fund his funeral reaches 50% of its target in less than one day.

It was a sad day for the acoustics of the town centre yesterday when it was announced that Michael Thomas Nelder otherwise known as the ‘Harmonica Man’ had passed away.

With no family to help fund the funeral for the local legend family friend Ferdie De Oliveira set up the GoFundMe to ensure Michael received the send off he deserves rather than a paupers funeral.

Aiming to raise £5,000 to cover the funeral costs it is amazing to see the fund reach (at the time of writing) £2,838 in less than 24 hours.

Any money raised over the funeral amount will be donated to charity.

If you want to make a donation you can do at the GoFundMe page.

What is a Paupers Funeral?

When a person is given a burial as part of a public health funeral, a short graveside service is held, before their committal to a public grave. Once known as a ‘common grave’ or ‘pauper’s grave,’ a person buried in a public grave may share the plot with other people.
