The resounding success of the England Wheelchair team at last year’s Rugby League World Cup captivated audiences worldwide.
The breathtaking display of skill, speed, and physicality in this unique sports variant left an indelible mark on fans everywhere. Since then, a passionate wave of enthusiasm has swept across the nation, resulting in the establishment of new clubs throughout the country. Now, Wheelchair Rugby League is returning to Swindon!
Tony Ellis, the Head of Wheelchairs at St George RL, has exciting news to share. The club has found a new home at the New College Sports Hall on Queens Drive, and Ellis couldn’t be happier.
He enthusiastically declared, “Our new venue is perfect for us, it features a properly sprung floor which will considerably help with the mobility and speed of the players.”
Tony Ellis is a highly respected figure in the sport, known for his contributions to the national team’s coaching setup. Now, he is on a mission to recruit new talent for St George RL, stating, “Everyone is welcome to enjoy this totally inclusive sport, young, old, male, female, wheelchair users and non-users, as well as anyone interested in helping us stage training sessions and games.”
The inaugural session is scheduled for Thursday, October 5th, from 20:00 to 22:00. Anyone curious about this immensely enjoyable sport is encouraged to attend.
