The countdown is on for Swindon St George as they prepare to charge into the 2025 Rugby League season — and the fire is well and truly lit under the local club’s ambitions.
With a rallying cry of “They will come to feel and fear the breath of the Dragons!”, Club Chairman Warren Huggins is full of belief in the campaign ahead. And rightly so. With key foundations firmly in place, Swindon St George look poised to make serious noise on and off the pitch.
Their headline sponsor, Powerwash Contractors Ltd, remains firmly behind them, along with continued backing from several other long-standing partners. The club’s strong relationship with Swindon Rugby Club — their home base — is also a key part of the plan, providing a reliable platform for growth and success.
Recruitment is already in full swing, with open calls for players of all backgrounds and ages. Whether it’s Open Age League, Masters RL, Wheelchair RL or the club’s thriving Junior section, there’s something for everyone under the St George banner. And it’s not just players they’re after — spectators and volunteers are equally welcome to be part of the Dragon family.
For those new to the sport or curious about giving it a try, there’s an ideal opportunity just around the corner. A free Rugby League taster session is taking place on Saturday 26th April from 11.30am to 1.30pm, open to all Under 12s and Under 13s. With fully trained coaches delivering a fun, safe introduction to the game, the club is hoping to see fresh faces from across the town — and yes, parents are most welcome too.
Huggins added:
“We’re building something strong, and the more the community gets behind us, the more powerful we become. We want Swindon to be proud of its rugby league team — and 2025 is shaping up to be a brilliant year.”
