Swindon boss Alun Rossiter believes their Knockout Cup semi-final tie with Belle Vue could be a dress rehearsal for the SGB Premiership Grand Final.
The Aces will head to the Abbey today for the first leg of their tie with both sides eyeing a league and cup double.
Rossiter is determined to ensure the Carpets4Less Robins build up a big lead to take to the second leg in Manchester on 22nd September and he is backing his side to see off another tough test after bouncing back to winning ways in Monday’s play-off semi-final first leg at Poole.
Rossiter said: “We proved on Monday we’re now back on it and it would be nice to gain a healthy looking advantage against Belle Vue.
“Like ourselves, Belle Vue are one of three sides who can still achieve the Premiership and Knockout Cup double – but hopefully we can gain a good lead in our home leg to make the latter of those targets much harder for them.
“Who knows, this could well be a dress rehearsal for the play-off final so the result could prove to be quite significant with that in mind.”
Bradley Wilson-Dean is continuing to be assessed but hopes to return at No.6, whilst Liam Carr guests alongside him at reserve.
Belle Vue have overcome their recent injury troubles and will be back to full strength for the clash.
