Team boss Alun Rossiter has called on his Swindon side to “rise to the occasion” in their SGB Premiership Grand Final first leg at the Abbey tonight.
The Carpets4Less Robins are facing their biggest meeting in recent memory as they face off with Wolverhampton in a mouth-watering repeat of the 2009 Elite League Grand Final.
With admission being kept at normal prices a big crowd is expected to cheer on Rossiter’s side on a huge night, and he is confident his side can cope with the pressure to establish a healthy lead to take to the West Midlands for the second leg on Wednesday.
“It’s a big night for the club and it’s an exciting time for us, so we’re looking forward to it,” Rossiter said.
“There’s sure to be some pressure on the boys and it will be a big occasion for sure, but I’d like to think we’ll rise to it.
We’ll be looking for a decent lead to take into the second leg. We know it’s important to make the most of being at home, and we need to take as many points as we can to their place.”
Wolverhampton are without star duo Freddie Lindgren and Jacob Thorssell, who both suffered back injuries in their semi-final success over Belle Vue.
Chris Harris steps in for No.1 Lindgren, whilst rider replacement covers Thorssell with every rider eligible to take an extra ride.
Swindon are boosted by the inclusion of Adam Ellis despite a wrist injury plus Liam Carr steps in again as a guest at reserve.
SWINDON: Jason Doyle, Adam Ellis, Tobiasz Musielak, David Bellego, Nick Morris, Bradley Wilson-Dean, Liam Carr.
WOLVERHAMPTON: Chris Harris, Kyle Howarth, Rory Schlein, Jacob Thorssell R/R, Sam Masters, Mark Riss, Nathan Greaves.
