Swindon is abuzz with excitement as Pickleball, the thrilling sport that has taken America by storm, finds its new home in the town.
Thanks to the efforts of Bryan Saunders, Shaun Jones, Mark Titchener, and the support from Padel4All and Delta Tennis Centre, Swindon Pickleball has been established, providing a fantastic opportunity for locals to experience this exciting new sport.
Pickleball combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis, making it a versatile game suitable for people of all ages and abilities. Whether you prefer indoor or outdoor play, Pickleball offers a thrilling experience that keeps players engaged and entertained.
Typically played on a badminton-sized court with the net lowered to tennis height, Pickleball involves two or four players using wooden or graphite ‘paddles’ to hit a perforated polymer ball. The game’s unique blend of skills and strategy ensures an enjoyable and challenging experience for participants.
Starting from the week commencing July 10th, Pickleball sessions will be available at both the Padel4All centre located at Bassett Down Golf Centre and the Delta Tennis Centre and there is an open invitation for anyone wanting to try out the sport to come along and play.
The following Club sessions have been scheduled to cater to various time preferences:
- Monday: 10.15am – 11.45am at Padel4All
- Tuesday: 10.00am – 12.00pm at Delta Tennis Centre
- Thursday: 10.00am – 12.00pm at Delta Tennis Centre
- Thursday: 6.00pm – 8.00pm at Delta Tennis Centre
- Friday: 6.00pm – 8.00pm at Delta Tennis Centre
- Saturday: 9.00am – 11.00am at Delta Tennis Centre
- Sunday: 4.45pm – 6.15pm at Padel4All
For sessions at Padel4All, it is essential to email bassetdown@padel4all.com in advance to secure your spot, as places will be limited. The cost for the 90-minute session is £7.50 per person.
At Delta Tennis Centre, advance booking is not required, but it is recommended to email club@swindonpickleball.co.uk to manage numbers and prepare the courts. The cost for a two-hour session is £8.50 per person.
