A Swindon tennis club has received a welcome boost after leading housing association SNG announced a year-long sponsorship of one of its courts.
The sponsorship at Swindon Tennis Club, based at St Mark’s Recreation Ground, comes as Wimbledon captures the attention of tennis fans across the country and reflects SNG’s commitment to supporting community organisations in the town.
The club, which has ten courts, has become an increasingly popular venue for players of all ages and abilities, helping introduce more people to the sport while providing opportunities for regular coaching and competition.
Ed Nieburg, Director at the National Tennis Association, welcomed the partnership.
He said: “We’re delighted to welcome SNG as a sponsor of Swindon Tennis. Their support helps us keep growing the game locally and bring tennis to more people across the community.”
SNG says the sponsorship forms part of its wider commitment to investing in the communities where it builds new homes.
The housing association is currently offering Shared Ownership properties at its King George Park development in Wanborough and at Wichelstowe, helping local buyers take their first steps onto the property ladder.
Sue Gallagher, Head of Sales at SNG, said supporting the club was a natural choice.
She said: “At SNG, we’re always looking for meaningful ways to invest in the towns and cities where we work, and sponsoring Swindon Tennis Club felt like a natural fit.
“With ten courts at St Mark’s Recreation Ground, Swindon Tennis Club is already doing a brilliant job of making the sport accessible to everyone. We hope our support helps the club continue to grow, attract new members, and give even more local people the chance to enjoy the game. It’s exactly the kind of community partnership we’re proud to be part of.”
Swindon Tennis Club has continued to expand its community offering in recent years, providing opportunities for juniors, adults and beginners to get involved in the sport, while encouraging participation through coaching sessions and social tennis.
The new sponsorship is expected to help the club continue developing its facilities and attracting new players, ensuring tennis remains accessible to people across the town.
With Wimbledon inspiring the next generation of players this summer, the partnership arrives at an ideal time to encourage more local people to pick up a racket and give the sport a try.
