Swindon captain Jason Doyle continued his stunning run of form in Saturday’s Latvian Speedway Grand Prix.
The Aussie ace reached a third consecutive Grand Final, adding another 10 important points to his overall total, leaving him in second place in the standings – just one point behind new series leader Patryk Dudek.
Doyle picked up his first race win of the night in his final programmed outing – a victory that scraped him through to the semi-finals.
He had it all to do in the penultimate stages, but pulled off a sensational ride to seal second place following a breathtaking battle with Russian rocket Emil Sayfurdinov.
Doyle again challenged in the opening exchanges of the Grand Final but suffered mechanical gremlins as the second lap came to an end, forcing him to settle for fourth place on the night.
The 31-year-old will lead the Robins in the SGB Premiership on Monday when they host rivals Somerset at The Abbey Stadium (5pm).
