New Players Take Up Pickleball in Swindon Thanks to Local Business Support

Swindon’s local pickleball scene has seen a surge in new players over recent months, thanks to a community initiative aimed at making the sport accessible to everyone.

The project, organised by the town’s pickleball club, covers the initial costs for people new to the sport, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent anyone from giving it a try.

Since the initiative began, around 76 new players have joined, enjoying the health, social and wellbeing benefits of the game.

One of the clubs organisers said: “Pickleball is a fantastic sport for all ages and abilities, but we know that starting something new can be intimidating. Covering the initial costs has made a huge difference and we’ve seen so many people get involved who might never have picked up a paddle before.”

A special mention has been made to Swindon Travel Hub, whose support has been instrumental in funding the initiative. “We are incredibly grateful to Swindon Travel Hub.”  “Their contribution has not only helped people try pickleball without worry, it’s also helped grow our community and make the sport feel welcoming for everyone.”

The club hopes the initiative will continue to expand, with plans to introduce more sessions and opportunities for beginners. With the growing interest, organisers are confident that pickleball will become a permanent fixture of Swindon’s sporting landscape.

“It’s fantastic to see so many people enjoying the sport and making new connections. Pickleball is more than just a game — it’s about health, fun and bringing people together. We couldn’t have done it without the support from Swindon Travel Hub.”
