Local Housebuilder Sponsors Wiltshire Swimmer for World Swimming Competition

A local housebuilder has dived into the spirit of community support by backing a Trowbridge-based swimmer set to represent Britain at the prestigious World Downs Syndrome Swimming Championships.

Persimmon Homes Wessex, known for its commitment to local initiatives through its Community Champions scheme, has generously contributed £2,000 towards Dorian Williams’ quest for excellence. The cheque presentation took place at Trowbridge Sports Centre, where Dorian hones his skills with the Trowbridge Amateur Swimming Club, in the presence of Wiltshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling.

With a passion for swimming ignited at an early age, Dorian’s journey to international competition has been buoyed by the unwavering support of his coaches and the one-to-one coaching sessions provided through the adult swimming lesson programme at the sports centre. This dedication and guidance have propelled Dorian to meet the stringent qualifying standards for the World Championships, set to take place in Antalya, Turkey, next month.
