Swindon Speedway are gearing up to celebrate the 69th anniversary of their first ever meeting.
In a huge week for the sport, the CFS Filtration Robins are back at the Abbey this Thursday when they face rivals Somerset in what promises to be a ding-dong battle.
And on Monday they throw the doors open for another Premiership clash with Leicester on the exact date of their first meeting.
The club have made the decision to issue a souvenir commemorative programme for the meeting in a change from the original plan.
This means there will be two programmes issued for the two meetings as the club strive to commemorate the milestone as well as producing up to date editions of their popular publication.
Gates will open at 6pm on Monday and there will be extra attractions from 7pm with a combination of riders from the past, present and future. The main event will start at 7.30 and will be live on BT Sport with Robins chiefs urging fans to create a great atmosphere for the cameras.
Club chairman Terry Russell said: “No doubt a lot of our fans will be heading to Cardiff at the weekend but we have two very important home meetings around that, so it’s a busy time for us all.
“I’m excited about the days ahead and I’m sure our fans will appreciate the fact that we want to make something big out of our anniversary meeting on the exact date of the first meeting – and it’s special for us to be live on BT Sport to celebrate.
