Woman Arrested After Series of Dog Attacks in Moredon as Pet is Seized

A woman has been arrested and a dog seized following a string of worrying dog attacks in the Moredon area of Swindon, including a fatal incident involving a family cat.

Wiltshire Police confirmed today (8th May) that a 33-year-old woman is currently in custody after being arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control under Section 3 of the Dangerous Dogs Act.

The arrest follows three reported incidents — two involving injuries to a person and two other dogs on 11th and 26th April, and a fatal attack on a cat on 3rd May. All incidents took place in Moredon and have raised growing concern amongst local residents.

PC Sam Young of the Swindon Local Policing Tasking Team said, “We appreciate the significant amount of public concern around this dog following multiple incidents, and I can confirm it has been seized.”

He went on to thank the public for their swift responses following a police appeal on social media, which helped lead officers to the suspect. “I’d also like to thank all the people who called in to identify the suspect following a public appeal on our social media, which has today led to the suspect being arrested,” he added.

The dog involved is now in the custody of the authorities as investigations continue. Officers have reassured the public that the matter is being taken seriously and enquiries are ongoing.

Swindon residents had taken to social media in recent weeks to express concern over the safety of local parks and residential areas following these events, with many calling for swift action.

The identity of the suspect has not yet been disclosed, and police have confirmed that she is being questioned in connection with all three incidents.
