The driver of the vehicle, a black BMW, remained at the scene.

The road was closed until around 12.30pm while investigators carried out their enquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone who either witnessed the collision, or who saw either the car or the pedestrian shortly beforehand, to contact them. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has dash cam footage which may assist their enquiries.

Anyone with information should call PC Daniel Laurie, from Wiltshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit, on 101, quoting log 27 of today (14/01).
