Wiltshire Police is appealing for witnesses after a racially-aggravated public order offence in Swindon.
The victim, a man in his 60s, was approached in the town centre, close to Regent Circus, between 10 am and 10.30 am yesterday.
The offender shouted racist abuse at the victim and threatened him with violence.
He then walked off in the direction of the library.
The suspect is described as a white man, with ginger hair, wearing a light-coloured top and bottoms.
PC Adam Mitchell, from the Swindon Community Policing Team, said: “This was an aggressive incident which happened at a busy time in the town centre, so we believe there will be people who witnessed it.
“This type of racist behaviour will not be tolerated and we would urge anyone with information to come forward.”
