Wiltshire Sight is supporting Macular Week with an event at St Lucy’s Sight Centre in Devizes on Wednesday 28th June, 10.00am – 2.00pm. The event will aim to raise awareness of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) in Wiltshire. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the latest in assistive technology equipment and hear from professionals about services and products.
The Devizes based organisation will be joined by national charities including Blind Veterans UK, Guide Dogs, Optelec and Macular Society as well as Wiltshire Sight’s Audio Library.
The Macular Society is the national charity for anyone affected by macular conditions. 600,000 people in the UK have AMD and a further 200 are diagnosed every day.
Wiltshire Sight’s Operations Manager, Maggie Hemmings coordinated the event and had this to say: “We are excited to be working with these organisations to raise awareness and support Macular Week. There will be an amazing variety of information and products to discuss with sight loss professionals.”
