“Police emergency , how can I help?”
Are you a fantastic communicator, able to remain calm in a crisis situation and provide reassurance to someone in their time of need?
Wiltshire police are actively looking for people to join the Contact Management Centre at Police HQ in Devizes.
The Contact Management Centre is the primary point of contact for members of the public. Contact Centre Operators deal with a range of calls, anything from road accidents, firearms incidents, and assaults, to anti-social behaviour and missing people. They are a critical function for help, intervention support, advice, and crime reporting.
Chief Inspector Doug Downing, Head of Contact Management says; “Our Contact Management Team work a shift pattern made up of 9 and 10 hour shifts, and between them provide a service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. On average they field over 1000 calls a day which come into our state-of-the-art operational control room, in addition to other contact such as online reporting.
“Our operators are there to support members of the public in their early contact with Wiltshire Police and they are a critical function of the police service that seeks to put communities at the heart of everything we do.
“That initial contact by members of the public is quite often the first time they have reached out to the police service and for us that contact is so important.
“As a department we are seeking to recruit talented individuals who can support us in our journey to provide the public with the best possible service. We are looking for a diverse range of individuals who bring something different to the team, bring empathy and can look at solving complex problems within our communities.”
Recruitment is open to join the team in a full time capacity. Successful applicants will begin their training in October this year or February 2023.
After eight weeks of classroom training you will be ready to join our Control Room, and begin your one to one tutorship programme. You will be supported throughout by a dedicated Tutor, who will develop your skills and confidence in handling calls and online contacts from the public.
