Wiltshire Housebuilder Contributes £11m to Community Projects and £202m to UK Economy

David Wilson Redrow South West – the company behind several of Wiltshire’s most in-demand new housing developments – has revealed it contributed more than £202 million to the UK’s economic output over the last financial year.

The division built 549 new homes, valued at a combined £187 million, and supported 2,853 jobs across its sites, suppliers and subcontractors. New residents are also expected to inject around £15 million into local shops and services annually, helping sustain nearly 150 retail and service-sector jobs.

The figures come from the company’s latest Socio-Economic Footprint Report, an annual publication first launched in 2013 to show the wider impact housebuilders make on the economy, the environment and local communities.

For Wiltshire and the South West, the headline numbers are striking.

Over the 2025 financial year (1 July 2024–29 June 2025), David Wilson Redrow South West delivered 114 affordable homes worth £12 million – sold at an average of 31% below the cost of private new builds. The division also created 66.5 hectares of green space, the equivalent of 95 football pitches, and installed hundreds of nature-friendly interventions including 376 nesting bricks, 54 bat boxes and 16 hedgehog highways.

Local communities benefited from £11 million in contributions through Section 106 and CIL payments, plus a further £31 million invested in physical improvements such as highways, environmental projects and community infrastructure. The company also made £96,000 in charitable donations, volunteered 115 employee hours, and supported 20 apprentices, graduates and trainees.

Environmental performance was another major focus, with 99% of homes built to EPC A or B standard and 178 equipped with renewable technologies including solar PV and air-source heat pumps.

Sales director Louise Ware said the company’s impact goes far beyond putting up new homes.

“Our role as a responsible housebuilder extends well beyond building homes – we’re helping to support jobs, boost local economies and improve community facilities across Wiltshire. We’re proud to see the measurable difference our developments make for people, places and nature.”

Current developments in Wiltshire include Orchards Rise and Canalside at Wichelstowe, Badbury Park in Swindon and Buckley Gardens in Melksham. New developments Barrow Grange in Chippenham and Elm Grove in Trowbridge are set to launch in 2026.
