Which countries have been added to the governments green travel list?

Popular tourist destinations Malta, Madeira, and the Balearic Islands – including Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca – will be added to the Government’s green list from June 30th at 4am.

Other destinations added to the list include the Caribbean islands of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Pitcairn Islands, and Antarctica.

All of the destinations, with the exception of Malta, will go on a ‘watchlist’, meaning these countries are at risk of moving from green to amber status at any time, as did Portugal just last month, so if you happen to be on holiday in one of these places and its traffic light status changes, you may have to scramble to pay for a flight home before any changes to the rules take effect.

Your Holiday Starts Now

Anyone travelling to Malta or Barbados from the UK must show evidence of a negative PCR test with Dominica, Antigua and the Turks and Caicos Islands requiring all travellers from the UK to prove they have had a negative Covid-19 test.

If you are heading to the Cayman Islands, Montserrat or Grenada you will be required to quarantine upon arrival and should you be heading to Anguilla you will be required to self-isolate.

Pitcairn Island has closed its borders to Britons so although it has appeared on the green list, you are unable to travel there.

Eritrea, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Mongolia, Tunisia and Uganda have been added to the red list.

The Government is also understood to be working on plans for quarantine-free travel – for those who have had two doses of the Covid vaccine – to and from amber list countries. This is expected to be in place later in the summer.
