The Christmas period can be expensive and stressful, especially if you are relying on benefit payments to see you through so not knowing when you are going to receive your money can only add to the stress.
Dates released by the Government show that many claimants will receive their payments early over the festive season although the exact date depends on the type of benefits people receive.
Anyone due a Universal Credit payment on Christmas Day or Boxing day will receive it slightly earlier on Christmas Eve and those expecting their money on New Year’s Day will now receive it a day earlier on 31st December.

Most households receive their Child benefit payments on a Monday or Tuesday and with Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day falling on a Wednesday and Thursday this year, payments should be paid normally.
However, if your usual payment falls on a day other than a Monday or Tuesday, the following changes could apply:
