Earlier this week Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced that the time period between reviews of coronavirus restrictions will be extended from every three weeks to every month.
Mr Hancock wrote: “To ensure that we are making future decisions about the lockdown at the right time, the maximum review period will change from 21 days to 28 days.
“This will allow decisions to align more closely with the period of time necessary to assess the impact of previous changes on key data feeds, including the R rate.”
Now that the maximum review period is 28 days rather than 21, that means the next lockdown review in England is expected on or around 25th June – if it takes place a month after the last review on 28th May.
What are the current government guidelines on lockdown?
Under current government guidelines, in England, up to six people from two different households can now meet up outdoors. This includes public parks and also private gardens.
For those living in England, unlimited exercise outside is allowed and driving somewhere in order to exercise is now allowed, please remember the rules in Wales and Scotland are different so if you are to cross the Severn Bridge you may be asked to turn back around.
Sport, such as golf, tennis and fishing is now allowed as long as social distancing is maintained and the return of professional sport played behind closed doors but shown on TV, has resumed.
The government guidelines still state that if you can work from home you should continue to do so, but if you cannot and it is safe to do so, you can go back to work.
