In response to complains about waste and recycling collections being missed this week, Swindon Borough Council has released details of what to do should you find your rubbish still there after you expected it to be collected.
To ensure smooth waste and recycling collections, the council request that we place all bins, bags, and boxes at the nearest possible point to our property boundary by 6.30am on your designated collection day, which you can find here if you are unsure.
Failure to do so may result in your waste not being collected as scheduled.
With a number of driver shortages resulting from sickness and leave, waste and recycling collections are experiencing some disruption resulting in missed collections.
In the event that your waste is not collected by 5.00pm on your designated collection day, and you believe that your collection has been missed, check the Swindon Borough Council website to see if has already been reported as being missed. The site is regularly updated with information about missed collections and guidance on what actions to take if your collections have been affected.
If your address is not showing as being missed then you can use the website to report it and the waste and recycling team will arrange to come and collect it normally on the net working day.
Commenting on the recent missed collections a Swindon Borough Council spokesperson said: ‘We appreciate your understanding during this challenging time, and if your waste or recycling hasn’t been collected, please leave it out as the collection crews will return as soon as possible.’
‘To address and minimise the likelihood of similar issues in the future, we are actively recruiting new drivers and exploring ways to make the driver/loader roles more flexible.’
