With the new tiered coronavirus restrictions in place across the country New Year’s Eve will look very different this year.
The government have announced a 5 day relaxation of the tiered between December 23rd and 27th, allowing up to three households to get together, however there is currently no extension to take in 31st December.
With Swindon and Wiltshire under Tier 2 restrictions it means that we cannot socialise with anyone who we do no live with indoors leaving us to celebrate the new year with our own households.
The government’s guidance says: “You must follow the rules on where you can go and who you can meet, including on New Year’s Eve.
“Your Christmas bubble will no longer apply.”
Pubs, bars and restaurants will be allowed to open but with the same restrictions in place as today:
- Alcohol only be allowed to be served with a substantial meal
- Last orders will be called at 10pm
- Venues having to shut by 11pm.
The only way we will be able to celebrate indoors with others is if at the two week review Swindon is downgraded to Tier 1.
The first review is expected to take place on 16th December.
