Wetherspoon announces full list of new rules at its Swindon pubs when they reopen

Wetherspoon has announced a number of new rules staff and customers at Sir Daniels Arms, The Savoy and The Dockle Farmhouse must adhere to when the pub giant reopens this summer.

Screens, gloves, masks and stringent cleaning all feature in Wetherspoon comprehensive guide which they believe will help keep the pubs open to trade whilst at the same time keeping their staff and customers safe.

With pubs not able to open until July 4th at the earliest here are the changes that are to be expected.

Your Holiday Starts Now

The pubs be open their usual opening hours unless government restrictions are in place.

All of its pubs will have screens at the till point as well as screens to separate seating areas where it is not possible to adhere to the social distancing requirement.

Staff will be provided with PPE – gloves, masks and protective eyewear however it is up to the employees to decide whether to wear them or not, subject to government guidelines.

There will be an average ten hand sanitiser dispensers around each pub, including at the entrance for customers and staff to use.

Every employee will need to complete and sign a daily health assessment questionnaire to confirm that they are fit to work, including having their temperature taken using a digital thermometer.

Pubs will use one entrance with a separate exit door where possible with entry and exit points marked out by floor stickers and/or barriers and there will be clear printed information providing guidance to customers as they enter the pubs.

Dedicated staff will monitor the pubs at all times in order to maintain social distancing standards and there will be a member of staff on the door at peak times.

Each pub will recruit two new members of staff, working full time to sanitise all the contact points which include door handles, allergen information screens, card payment machines and hand rails during opening hours

Customers will be asked to use the Wetherspoon order and pay app, wherever possible, or pay at the bar using a credit/debit card and contactless, although cash will be accepted.

Staff will hand over all drinks holding the base of the glass and when ordered by the app they will be delivered to the table on a tray and placed on the table using the base of the glass.

Food will be delivered to the table by a member of floor staff.

The pubs will also offer a slightly reduced menu and will provide sachets (ketchup, mayonnaise, salt pepper etc), rather than their usual condiment bottles.

  1. Sounds like they have really looked into this safety of staff and customers a top priority looking forward to when they reopen

  2. This is just a re hash of the consultation document that has been sent to the government by the hospitality industry trade groups plus a bit extra. They are not saying anything special. Please don’t believe that Spoons are in the vanguard of health and safety!
