a council spokesperson said: ‘We’ve been made aware that some residents have been receiving phone calls asking for their bank account details in order to process the £150 Government payments.

‘Please note these calls are not from the Council – we will not phone you to ask for your bank details so if someone phones you for this purpose, do not give them your details.’

Residents who pay their council tax by direct debit will receive the £150 rebate payment into their bank accounts later this month.

For those who don’t pay by direct debit, Swindon Borough Council will be sharing details shortly on how you will receive your payment.
