Wacky Wednesdays are coming to The Brunel this summer

Once again The Brunel Shopping Centre will be helping to entertain children during the long summer holidays with family-friendly entertainment – and it’s all free.

Wacky Wednesdays kicks off on Wednesday 7 August with Get Art Smarty.  Children, young and old, will be able to make their very own foam sun visors, decorated and personalised with foam shapes (Brunel Arcade, lower level).

Wednesday 14 August is the Hulaballoo Hula Party.  There will be a Wacky DJ, hula show workshops, music, games, arts and crafts and a fancy dress competition with prizes.  The Hula Party takes place in The Brunel Plaza, upper level, between Boots and Marks & Spencer.

Your Holiday Starts Now

Dora the Explorer will be coming to The Crossing on Wednesday 21 August to meet the children.  Dora’s grown up now and has moved to a new city and a new school, but she still likes adventures.  One lucky person will win tickets to Cineworld to see the new Dora & The Lost City of Gold movie.

And finally, on Wednesday 28 August there’s Milkshake or Muck-Shake a game show with a difference.  Contestants will answer summer-based questions to win gold stars for right answers – or a freshly made milkshake if they get it wrong – with the ingredients being chosen by the Wheel of Misfortune.  Whatever goes in must be drunk to win a gold star!  And it probably won’t be pleasant!  Milkshake or Muck-Shake takes place in The Crossing.

Jane Stewart, The Brunel’s Centre Manager said: “We’re really looking forward to WackyWednesdays.  All of the activities that we have planned are going to be great fun and we are delighted that we are able to offer this programme of free entertainment.  School holidays can be a challenging and expensive time for families so we always try and put together a programme of free entertainment where we can.”

Wacky Wednesday events take place at intervals through the day from 11am to 3pm.  Events are free and booking is not required.  Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.  For more information see Facebook, @thebrunelswindon, or telephone The Brunel, tel: 01793 525857

Throughout August Swindon Town Centre has a Summer Festival and details of all events can be found at www.swindontowncentre.co.uk.  The festival highlight will be the return of the popular Urban Beach at Wharf Green (1–8 August) with sand, seaside music, rides, workshops and stalls.
