Swindon & Wiltshire Pride is gearing up for its largest celebration to date, set to take place on August 10th at GWR Park.
Following the excitement of being named finalists at the prestigious 2024 British LGBT Awards, the charity is calling on volunteers to help make this year’s event unforgettable.
Over the last decade, Swindon & Wiltshire Pride has become a summer highlight for the town, with last year’s celebration attracting huge crowds. The countdown to this year’s event is well underway, and organisers are keen to involve the community in ensuring its success.
Mark Wheeler, Volunteer Manager, emphasised the importance of volunteers for the event. “Volunteers are required from Friday August 9th to Sunday August 11th, and roles may include helping set up and close down the site, monitoring the gates, supporting stalls, and litter picking. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our event and we appreciate everyone who supports us.”
This year’s line-up promises an exciting array of performances, featuring drag star Victoria Scone, Sonia, Livin’ Joy, Cheeky Girls, Olivier Award-nominated Amie Atkinson from SIX the Musical, and top tribute act Katy Ellis as Taylor Swift.
Paul Stewart, chairperson of Swindon & Wiltshire Pride, added, “Volunteering at Swindon & Wiltshire Pride 2024 isn’t just about supporting an incredible event; it’s about being part of a vibrant, inclusive community. Your contribution helps make this celebration possible, and being part of the Pride family.”
