UK set to experience hottest day of the year so far

Forecasters predict temperatures up to 21 degrees, bringing sunny spells and warm weather to most of the country.

The United Kingdom is gearing up for what could be the hottest day of the year so far, as meteorologists predict soaring temperatures reaching highs of 21 degrees this weekend, with most areas experiencing temperatures in the high teens.

While not all regions will witness temperatures in the twenties, the North of England is expected to bask in the best of the weather conditions. According to BBC meteorologist Chris Fawkes, “Across England and Wales, lots of sunshine is on the way. It is going to feel warm in the sunshine with temperatures between 18C and 21C.”

Despite the warm temperatures, the Met Office cautions that coastal areas may still feel breezy. Additionally, Saturday may see cloudier weather in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Nevertheless, much of England and Wales can expect sunny spells and a welcome rise in temperatures throughout the weekend.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast brings further good news, as temperatures are projected to remain slightly above average for this time of year. As we approach the end of the month, forecasters anticipate warmer weather sweeping across the UK, thanks to an extreme weather front known as the ‘Africa plume’.
