Warning as midweek scorcher to be followed by thundery drenching

The Met Office is warning the Swindon public to prepare for some sizzling sunshine this week but also warn we face a drenching from heavy thunderstorms that will follow.

Wednesday is expected to see a return of the tropical heat on Wednesday with temperatures in Swindon expected at 25C with parts of the UK reaching upto 3oC. This will be followed by heavy thunderstorms through Thursday and early Friday morning.

‘Where they (thunderstorms) develop intense downpours are likely, bringing a low risk of sudden flooding of roads, transport routes, homes and businesses.’

’25-30 mm of rain may fall within an hour, perhaps 50 mm in 3 hours.’

After the rain gives way, Friday should see a return of the high temperatures throughout much of the country but make the most of it as it will cool down as we go in to the weekend.
