Swindon Designer Aims to Shatter World Record with 24-Hour Van Pull

In an audacious display of determination, Swindon designer Mike Land, is looking to break the Guinness World Record for the farthest distance covered by pulling a vehicle within a 24-hour timeframe.

Mike’s challenge is set to start tomorrow at midday at Cotswold Airport, and aims to raise £5,000 in support of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Mike’s dedication to pushing his limits has already seen him conquer numerous challenges, including multiple marathons, cycling events, swimming trials, and even Spin-a-thons. However, the seeds of his resilience were sown just after he left college after a life-changing incident that could have ended up so different from someone less determined.

A snapped rope during a bungee jump resulted in a fractured pelvis, and Mike was swiftly transported to Swindon’s Great Western Hospital. The prognosis was stark – he might face limitations in his mobility, even the prospect of restricted movement in his limbs. Defying these predictions, Mike embarked on a journey of astounding self-discovery, proving time and again that his spirit was unbreakable.

Reflecting on the challenge, Mike shared, “To be honest, I don’t know if this challenge is crazy or amazing.

“I really wanted to do something different, so just flippantly thought, why don’t I pull a van?

“Strengthening my back and calves is very important for this challenge.

“I really wanted to do something out of the box to raise money for all the amazing things Wiltshire Air Ambulance does.”

This record-breaking attempt will kick off on Thursday, 10th August, commencing at midday at Cotswold Airport which is open to the public from 9am to 5pm.
