Two local residents have recently been appointed to Wiltshire Air Ambulance Charitable Trust’s Board of Trustees.

They are Mike Fellows, who has worked in a variety of sales, marketing and senior management roles and has fundraised for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, and Rob Kevan, who has extensive experience in the aviation industry,

Mike is the Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz of Swindon, which employs over 100 local people. He lives near Chippenham and is married with two children.

He has been a supporter of Wiltshire Air Ambulance for many years and in 2017 he and a group of colleagues cycled 101 miles in a day from London to the charity’s former airbase at Devizes and raised funds.

Mike said: “The charity offers an amazing service to the people in our county and I can understand from many different perspectives the importance of it. Having myself raised money for it, put the effort into a fundraising challenge, knowing people who have benefited from the services provided by the helicopter and crew and now as a Trustee making sure we continue to grow and serve the local community.”

Rob, who lives in Keevil, is a Ground Operations Manager at QinetiQ at MOD Boscombe Down, primarily supporting the Empire Test Pilot School.

Rob has lived in Wiltshire for nearly 30 years and before joining QinetiQ he served for 23 years in the Royal Air Force as a Navigator, mostly at RAF Lyneham flying the C-130k Hercules. During his time at RAF Lyneham Rob led a detachment in Turkey flying in relief aid to Pakistan following the devastating earthquake in 2005. He also managed the relocation of C-130 operations from RAF Lyneham to RAF Brize Norton.

Rob, who is married with a son, said: “I very much appreciate what a great asset the air ambulance brings to the community in Wiltshire and the role it plays in saving lives. To be able to contribute to such a worthwhile charity is a privilege.”

Trustees provide strategic leadership to the charity and give their time for free.

David Philpott, Chief Executive of Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “Over the past few months Mike has added so much experience to our board and brought plenty of practical wisdom to our Trustee meetings. Rob has only just joined us, but his aviation knowledge will be a great asset.

“From time to time we recruit new Trustees as others rotate off the board having served their full term, so I am always interested to hear from anyone that thinks that they might be able to support us by becoming a Trustee for when vacancies occur. Please email hello@wiltshireairambulance.co.uk”
