Two pub rules set to change in England in June

When Boris Johnson announces the changes to lockdown restriction on June 21st, it is widely reported that two rules currently in force in Swindon’s pubs will be removed.

Table service and the “one metre plus” rule are expected to be scrapped from June as part of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown with the next step also set to see the towns nightclubs reopen and large-scale events such as Mfor and Live at Lydiard music festivals given the green light.

Professor Adam Finn, a member of the Government’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), has suggested that we could see an “adjustment” to the current easing of restrictions set for June 21st.

Speaking to Times Radio yesterday he said: “We’re effectively in a race with the vaccine programme against the virus.

“We know that we’re letting the virus out by spreading it about now, we know that we’re progressing well with the vaccine programme, but I think there’s going to need to be an adjustment of some sort.”

What rules could be lifted from June 21?
The lockdown changes could see nightclubs reopen and easing of restrictions on large events, such as weddings.

Currently up to 30 people can attend weddings but it’s expected this limit could be lifted.

Social distancing could also come to an end with the official line on the Government website stating “the Government hopes to be in a position to remove all legal limits on social contact”.

This means that the rule of six and two households rule indoors may be lifted if the June 21st changes go ahead.

Any review of social distancing measures could also see the one metre plus rule, wearing of masks and other restrictions such as working from home where possible lifted.
