Two people taken to hospital and man arrested following early morning incident in Toothill

A man is currently in custody after two people were injured in Toothill, Swindon, early this morning.

Officers were called to a report of a disorder in Affleck Close shortly before 1am.

A 16-year-old girl suffered a wound to her hand and was taken to the Great Western Hospital, and an 18-year-old man suffered injuries to his face.  He was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary Hospital. Both are described as suffering potentially life changing injuries.

Officers conducted extensive searches and enquiries at the scene immediately after the incident and an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of Section 18 grevious bodily harm with intent.

He was taken to Gablecross custody where he remains.

Det Insp Paul Hacker said: “We believe that all those involved are known to each other and we do not believe there to be a wider risk to the public. Officers in attendance at the scene were able to swiftly identify a suspect who we currently have in custody for questioning.”
