Two million households miss at least one household payment in April

Consumer watchdog, Which?, has released research showing that approximately two million households defaulted on at least one payment, including mortgages, rent, loans, credit cards or bills.

It was also revealed that around 700,000 renters missed their payments to their landlords during the same period.

Among the 2,000 responses, energy bills were the most frequently missed followed by council tax.

Rocio Concha, Which? director of policy and advocacy, said: ‘It’s very worrying that so many households are missing housing payments. We’d encourage anyone who’s struggling to seek free debt advice and reach out to their mortgage provider or landlord for help.’
