Are you still one of the many thousands who still have the round pound coins in your pocket with just two days left to spend them before they cease to become legal tender?
Don’t worry. Iceland, the frozen food retailer have joined other nation chains including Poundland and Aldi in announcing they will be ignoring the midnight Sunday deadline set out by Royal Mint.
From Monday 16th October, if you do still find one of the old coins down the back of the sofa the only way you should be able to cash it in would be to deposit it at a high street bank or the Post Office.
That was until earlier this week when reports from the Royal Mint indicated there could still be up to 500million of the old coins still in circulation.
Since that announcement retailers have been slowly announcing their own deadlines to when they will accept the old coin as payment.
Below we list all of the retailers who have announced they will accept the old coins through to the end of the month:
- Iceland
- Tesco
- Aldi
- Poundland
- Greggs
